Body Transformation
When we talk about a body transformation we are really talking about a change on the inside and out. It’s quite different to just losing weight. To put it simply losing weight is the relationship you have with gravity. Your weight can change by 2-3 kilograms in a day!!!
A body transformation will change your body shape, your body composition (how much muscle compared to fat that you have), the way you look, the way you feel and the way you function. Of course, the greater the physical (external) change that is required the more changes one needs to implement in their life – change of eating habits, social habits, sleep, activity/exercise and a whole range of things. This is what a body transformation so difficult but once achieved all the more worthwhile.
To achieve a body transformation takes time, patience, getting uncomfortable and most of all being consistent. Essentially there are 4 key parts required for a successful transformation:
The first is exercise. This is an obvious, but without the correct type of exercise your goals will be so much harder to achieve. A combination of the light type of cardio exercise and weight training is the crucial.
Second is nutrition. Nutrition is never just about nutrition. It’s about a lot more, it’s about the relationship you have with food, you’re perception and beliefs about food. Most people know what food is healthy and which isn’t but continue to eat poorly. Eating the right food is essential if you want to change your body. It’s not just as simple as calories in vs calories out. You want to make sure you are fuelling your body correctly, giving it the essential nutrients it needs so that you can function properly.
A healthy lifestyle is necessary to success. This ties into everything you do. It’s not just a matter of exercising, eating right and away you go. It is about living a way which is healthy and ties into what you are trying to achieve. It is a pointless exercise if you are training the house down, eating well but then going to bed late, either partying or working all hours. You need to allow your body to recover. Otherwise you will breakdown, get injured or simply not be able to sustain it. It is also about creating an environment that is conducive to you getting results. Things like ensuring that you have food ready all the time or at your fingertips is crucial. It’s the rule of proximity, if it is nearby you will consume it so chose carefully what you have nearby. You may need to schedule meal preps to ensure that happens. If you don’t schedule it, it won’t happen. Simple is that!!
Last, but not least, you need to change your mind. Quite often this part is understated. It is crucial that you have absolute clarity as to why you are doing is. You must have a strong why!!! Be clear on why it is you want to achieve your goals. The stronger that is the bigger the chance of your success. It is crucial to create the right structure because this is a way of creating the right habits that are needed if you are to achieve your goals. Motivation is not enough and is only temporary. The right structure will ensure that you are going down the right track and replacing bad habits with bad ones. Thereby also creating self-discipline and the right mindset.
